Light Giver 5
And he perceived ships, two, those which have stood ready close beside the Lake, and the Seamen, those who have disembarked/dismounted away from themselves, they kept washing the Casting Nets.
And he who has stepped into one of the Ships, one which was being of Hearing, asked himself to lead up a little one away from the Earthly One, and he who has sat down out of the Ship kept teaching the Multitude.21c
"Y'all are having serious existential problems."
βάθος - depth or height, according as measured up or down
And just as he ceased, he who is chatting, he spoke toward the Hearing, "Bring back up into the Altitude and loosen the Casting Nets of yourselves into a chase!22
"For also Man ("Adam") does not perceive the self-eternal time of himself. Like the fishes who are seized within an evil stronghold [מצוד]; like sparrows, the Seized Possessions within a sheet/trap, as they themselves, the Sons of Man who are ensnared within an evil time, when she falls against them unexpectedly."
(Ecclesiastes 9:12 RBT)ἐπιστάτης - One Standing Over, director, supervisor, Boss
And he who has been separated, Hearing, he said, "Boss, those who have grown weary, we took hold of nothing through the entire night, but upon the Saying of yourself I will loosen the Casting Nets."συνέκλεισαν - Shutting In, enclosing (into the Ark)
And those who have made this one, they enclosed a great multitude of fishes, and the Casting Nets of themselves were tearing asunder.κατανεύω - Signal by nodding the head
And they nodded to the Partakers/Sharers within the Other Ship, the ones who have come to assist themselves, and they came and they filled up both sides of the Ships so as to sink themselves.A Mega Fear Pressing on all Sides
And Hearing Small Stone, he who perceived, fell upon/attacked the Knees of Salvation, he who is saying, "Go out away from myself, because I am a depraved/erroneous man, Master! For an astonishment encompassed himself and all of those united with himself upon the Hunt of the Fishes, which they seized together/apprehended.
ζωγρέω = take, save alive, take captive instead of killing, spare a prisoner’s life
And likewise also Heel Chaser and Favored, sons of Endowment ("Zebedee"), who were being partakers/sharers with the Hearing. And the Salvation said toward the Hearing, "Do not fear! Away from the you will be him who is preserving alive men!And those who have led the Ships down upon the Earthly One, those who have sent away everything, they accompanied self.
τῷ εἶναι - The Being
And he has become within the Being of Himself, within one of the Cities. And behold! a man full of scaliness, and he who has perceived, the Salvation, he who has fallen upon the face, was in want of himself, he who is saying, "Master if you would be willing, you have power to cleanse myself!"And he who has stretched out the Hand attached/fastened to himself, he who is saying, "I want, be cleansed!" And straightly the Scaliness went away from himself.
And he, himself transmitted to self to speak nothing but rather, he who has gone away, show your own self to the Priest and offer around from the Purification of yourself just as Drawn Out ("Moses") arranged into a testimony to themselves.
But the Logos Ratio around himself was going through even more, and many multitudes were coming together to hear and to be treated away from the Weakened Ones of themselves.
And he was him who is withdrawing back within the Desolated One, and he who is offering prayers.
νομοδιδάσκαλος - Teachers of the Usage
And he has become within one of the Days. And he, himself was him who is teaching, and the Separatists ("Pharisees") were those who are sitting down and those who kept being usage-teachers, those who have come from out of every unwalled village of the Circuit ("Galilee"), and Caster ("Judean"), and Foundation of Peace ("Jerusalem"), and a powerful one of a master, she kept being into the Healing of Himself.22bAnd behold! Men, those who are carrying a man on a couch, whosoever was him who has been paralyzed, and they were seeking to bring in himself, and to put in the eye of himself.
What, Which, How to Go? The Roof.
And those who have not found which way they should carry himself in because of the Multitude, those who have climbed up upon the Dwelling sent down himself straight through the Earthen Tiles in sync with the Small Couch into the Middle in front of the Salvation.
Send down into the Middle
And he who has perceived the Trust of themselves said, "A man! The Misses of yourself have been sent away!"
And the Scholars and the Separatists began to debate back and forth, those who are saying, "Who is this one who talks blasphemies? Who has power to hurl away misses except the God alone?"
And the Salvation, he who has recognized the inner dialogues of themselves, he who has been separated, said toward themselves, "Why are you arguing within the Hearts of yourselves?
What is easier, to speak The Misses of yourself have been sent away or to speak Wake up and tread around?
And so that you may see that the Son of the Human is holding an authority on the Earthly One to send away misses, he spoke to the one who has been paralyzed, To yourself I am saying Wake up! And he who has lifted up the little couch of yourself, lead across into the Home of yourself!"
And immediately he who has stood up in the eye of themselves, he who has lifted up upon whatever he was lying went away into the Home of himself, he who is glorifying the God.
παράδοξα - Paradoxes, Contrary to Expectation
And a displacement had taken hold of the whole, and they were glorifying the God, and they were filled of fear, those who are saying that we have perceived paradoxes today. And beyond these things, he came out, and he saw a tax farmer, by name Joined ("Levi"), he who is sitting upon the Toll House and he said to himself, "Accompany myself!"
And he who has left behind everything, he who has stood up, he was accompanying self.
A Mega Feast
And Joined ("Levi") made a mega feast to self within the House of himself, and there was a great multitude of tax farmers, and others whosoever were those who are lying down in company with themselves. And the Separatists and the Scholars of themselves were cooing/mchating toward the Learners of Self, those who are saying, "For what reason are you eating and drinking in company with the Tax Farmers and missers?"
And he who has been separated, the Salvation, said toward themselves, "They are not holding a need of a physician, the ones who are being healthy, but rather the ones who are holding evilly.
I have not come to summon just ones, but rather missers into a change of mind.
And the ones said toward himself, "The Learners of Favored ("John") fast constantly, and are making wantings, likewise also the ones of the Separatists, but the ones of yourself are eating and drinking!"
"Why do they fast constantly but the ones of yourself are eating and drinking?"
And the Salvation said toward themselves, "You do not have power to make to fast the Sons of the Bridechamber, within whosoever the Bridegroom is, in company with themselves.
But they will come, days, and when the Bridegroom is lifted off away from themselves, at that time within those ones, the Days, they will fast.
ἐπίβλημα - Coverlet, Bedspread, Tapestry, Lid
And he was also speaking a comparison toward themselves that no one who has split a coverlet away from a new outer garment casts upon an old outer garment, otherwise the New he will split and the Coverlet will not agree with the Old, the one away from the New.And no one is casting new wine into old skin bottles, otherwise the New Wine will break apart the Skin Bottles, and he, himself will be spilt/shed, and they will destroy away the Skin Bottles.
But rather new wine is to be cast into new skin bottles.
And no one who has drunk the old wants the new, for he is saying, "The Old One is useful."
Footnotes
By itself, the participial phrase καθίσας ἐκ τοῦ πλοίου employs ἐκ to mark the spatial source prior to the posture-action. The construction compresses two sequential events—disembarkation and seating—into a single participial unit. The sense is thus: “after coming out of the boat, he sat down,” i.e., “having sat down after disembarking.” The phrase, by itself, cannot mean “sat in the boat,” nor does it imply a causative (“having seated someone”). However the presence of another verb "teaching" and flexibility of Greek word order can lead one to translate the order differently, depending on their bias (e.g. teaching out of the boat).
Author's Intent/Bias
This verse is a classic example of how bias works, and how the traditional bias seems to always be away from primary and proper meanings.
The word ἄγρα is not commonly attested in Greek literature in the sense of fishing. The standard Greek term for fishing or a haul of fish is ἁλιεία (ἁλιεύω being "to fish"), while ἄγρα is predominantly associated with hunting on land—whether of animals, humans (metaphorically), or even abstract chasing/pursuits.
In poetical, parable, enigmatic, or riddle-like contexts, an extended meaning can obscure or undermine the intended effect of the original usage. These contexts often rely on precise, layered, and sometimes intentionally ambiguous language to evoke certain feelings, meanings, or imagery. If a term like ἄγρα is understood in its "extended" or overly literal sense (such as "catch of fish"), it can disrupt the nuance or metaphorical weight that the author is trying to convey.
For example, in a riddle or enigmatic poetry, the term ἄγρα might carry not only the idea of pursuit or hunting but also allude to broader themes, such as capture, or even reference a pursuit of something intangible or abstract.
In these cases, understanding the word as part of the contextual flow, with its original meaning (hunting or pursuit) and possible metaphoric resonance, is key. The artist or poet may rely on the audience's interpretive engagement, which can be lost if the word is reduced too narrowly or extended too literally.
Thus, in parable or riddle-like texts, it is best to preserve the original or suggestive meaning of the word and allow the context to reveal the full spectrum of its significance, rather than forcing an "extended" interpretation that may not align with the author’s intent.
The translation “Bring back up into the Height and loosen the Casting Nets of yourselves into a chase” for Luke 5:4 is not only lexically plausible, but also proper, based on LSJ entries for the critical Greek terms:
-
ἐπανάγαγε (2nd aor. act. imperat. of ἐπανάγω): While often rendered idiomatically as "put out [to sea]," the verb more generally means “bring up” or “lead back/up” ([LSJ, ἐπανάγω I.1–2]). This includes meanings such as:
-
bring up toward the light (Plato, Leg. 724a),
-
elevate or exalt (D. 60.9),
-
and put to sea (Hdt. 9.98), which may stem from the imagery of raising the sails and going into the open waters.
The phrase εἰς τὸ βάθος is commonly rendered “into the deep,” but LSJ notes βάθος denotes "height or depth" depending on context ([LSJ, βάθος I]; cf. αἰθέρος βάθος, Eur. Med. 1297; Ταρτάρου βάθη, Aesch. Prom. 1029), indicating vertical dimension in either direction.
-
-
χαλάσατε (2nd aor. act. imperat. of χᾰλάω): This verb is widely attested with the sense loosen, slacken, let down, release ([LSJ, χαλάω I–III]), including:
-
slacken ropes, unstring bows, or lower sails (cf. A.R. 2.1264),
-
and metaphorically, relax the mind or remit emotions (Plato, Phd. 98d; Lg. 653c).
Therefore, “loosen” here is not only permissible but primary.
-
-
εἰς ἄγραν: A prepositional phrase with ἄγρα in the accusative, meaning “into a hunt, pursuit, or chase” ([LSJ, ἄγρα, I–III]):
-
Notably, ἄγρα is used broadly of hunting (humans, animals, fish: see Hdt. 1.73; Eur. Supp. 885).
-
Therefore, εἰς ἄγραν may idiomatically indicate the action of catching fish — but the primary would be “into a chase.”
-
Earliest manuscripts have αὐτόν "himself." Later manuscripts put αὐτούς "themselves"
