Genesis 3:24
And את-the Red-one he is driving out148 and is causing to dwell from the front [east] to the enclosure of Eden את-the Cherubim149 and את-a flame of the Sword of the One-who-inverts-herself150 to guard את-the road151 of the Wood of the Living-ones.

Feminine singular participle Hithpael verb of to flip herself over, invert, reverse, change, turn about/over, i.e the Sword of the one who inverts herself. Like a table flipped over/upright. The same participle is used in a picture of a loaf of bread, which was round flat bread, in Judges 7:13, “And as Gideon arrived, a man was telling his friend about a dream. ‘Behold, I had a dream,’ he said, ‘and I saw a loaf of barley bread flipping/inverting himself over [מתהפך] into the Midianite camp. He is coming to the Tent and he is smiting and he is falling and he is inverting him [הפך] to the upside and the tent has collapsed!’” As a dream and vision, it follows that there would be heightened symbolism. Hence the interpretation of the bread loaf "rolling" is off on the grounds that the verb הפך has nothing to do with "rolling." (See Strong's #2015) |
