Footnotes
Isa. 1:22 | Hebrew ืืืื. Considered a masculine singular passive participle ascribed to the verb root Strongs #4107 ืึธืึทื (mahal). But it only appears once, and the verb root is not used elsewhere. ืืืื appears similar to Strongs #4135 ืืื mul, cut down, reduced. Hence castrated, emasculated, weakened. Strongs #5435 ืกืื "saba" drink/drunkard is a rare noun related to imbibing, drinking heavily (cf. Strongs #5433 ืกืื). It is not the normal word for wine. It refers to drunkard in Deut 21:20 "a worthless glutton and a drunkard [ืกืื]" |
