He wandered about for bread, where he knew that the day of darkness was ready at his hand.

He is wandering, for he seeks for bread. Where is it ? He knows that the day of darkness is at his hand.
Brenton Septuagint Translation:
And he has been appointed to be food for vultures; And he knows within himself that he is doomed to be a carcass: And a dark day shall carry him away as with a whirlwind.
