RBT Paraphrase
1 A
song of
the Singers, which is Complete One's ("Solomon's").
2 He is kissing myself from the
kisses of the mouth of himself
for better than wine are the beloved ones of yourself!Upon a Pillar and Base of the Truth
3 To the fragrance of
the good oils of yourself
She is pouring out a name of yourself upon a stand the
maidens have loved yourself.
4 Draw in myself, we are running behind yourself,
The King has brought myself in to the inner rooms of himself We are spinning around and we are rejoicing within yourself
We are reminding her the teats of yourself are more than wine! Straight ones have loved yourself!
5 A
blackened one of myself and
a lovely one, daughters of
Foundation of Peace As the tents of Darkened; As the curtains of Complete One.The Sons: Pleasant Plantings
6 Do not gaze at myself, myself who is blackened-blackened
the Sun she who has caught sight of myself, The sons of the mother of myself were burned glowing hot within myself,
they placed myself, she who takes care of the self eternal Vineyards The
vineyard of myself, who is my own, I have not taken care of!
7 Put her in front to myself, whom she has loved,
the Soul of myself!
How she is shepherding! How she is crouching within the dual noon-light of
Complete One ("Solomon")!
I am like her who wraps around over ranks of your allies. The Beautiful One within women
8 If you are not perceiving yourself,
the Beautiful One within women,
go out to yourself in the heels of the Flock and shepherd the
self eternal young female goats against the dwelling places of the Shepherds!9 To
the horse/mare of myself within the chariots of Great House ("Pharaoh")
I have compared you my companion!10 They have become lovely, the
jawbones of yourself
within the successions/turns of the neck of yourself in a string of pearls.11 We are making turns/successions of gold to yourself
in company with points of the Silver.12 Until him who is the King within his encircling place,
The spikenard of myself has given the fragrance of himself.13 A package of the Myrrh, the beloved one of myself to myself
In between the breasts he is lodging the night.14 A cluster of the Covering, is the beloved one of myself to myself
in the Eye of Fortune ("Ayin Gadi"). הנך Behold Yourself
15 Behold yourself! A
beautiful one! My
companion!
Behold yourself! A beautiful one! The
dual eye-springs of yourself, of
doves!
16 Behold yourself! A
handsome one,
beloved one of myself!
Indeed a delightful one, indeed the bed of ourselves is fresh green!
17 The
rafters of the houses of ourselves, cedar trees
The runners, of cypress trees.

Notes
| Sng. 1:3 | Sng. 1:3 See Strong's #3653 noun masculine base, pedestal, office
|
| Sng. 1:4 | Sng. 1:4 Hebrew
This is the only instance of this verb construct. The form nazkirah is a Hiphil imperfect first‐person plural "we cause to remember/remind" with the feminine suffix -. The standard Hiphil form is nazkir and thus the presence of the feminine suffix - is disregarded. Neither of these two things seem to have been translated previously and instead replaced with "we are remembering" or "we remembered" which is contrary to a causative verb.

| Sng. 1:6 | Sng. 1:6 (shekharḥoret) black-black. This word exhibits doubling of the root שחר (which means "to be black" or "dark"). This is called reduplication and is said to add intensity.
- אדמודם (admodam) – red-red (from אדם, red).
- ירוקרוק (yerokrok) – green-green (from ירוק, green).
- חורחר (ḥavarḥar) – white-white (from חור, white/pale).

| Sng. 1:7 | Sng. 1:7 Hebrew Solomon, shlomoh. Traditionally taken for a compound of a relative, preposition, and interrogative. (i.e. ש-ל-מה) |
| Sng. 1:8 | Sng. 1:8 Hebrew . The use of the prefix is one of an interesting bias as the traditional rendering "among" is actually implying to the reader that the beautiful one is separate or different from all women. Moreover, it also implies all the rest of women are not beautiful. So the bias at work here is of no small consequence. The primary meaning of the preposition is in/within. So the most accurate translation is actually thus, "the beautiful one within women" implying that there exists a beautiful one within all women, even right next to the "ugly one" that may be present. |
