Footnotes

Mic. 1:1
Mic. 1:1

Micah's name in this form, ืžื™ื›ื” has been interpreted as an "abbreviation" of ืžื™ื›ื™ื” "Micayah" because it does not contain Yah ื™ื”. As written however it relates to either ื›ื” "like thus/this manner" or the longer form ื›ืžื•ื” "like her." Cf. Hebrew kemoah "like her" in 1 Samuel 21:10:

 ื•ื™ืืžืจ ื“ื•ื“ ืื™ืŸ ื›ืžื•ื” ืชื ื ื” ืœื™

And Beloved ("David") is saying,  "There is none like herself, give her to myself!"
