Setting Free Only One
And down to a feast, the Commander had been accustomed to setting free one captive to the Multitude, whomever they were desiring.
Julia Smith Literal 1876 Translation:
And in the festival the leader was accustomed to loose one imprisoned to the crowd, which they desired.
LITV Translation:
And at a feast, the governor customarily released one prisoner to the crowd, whom they wished.
