RBT Translation:
and I have given miracles spices/in the dual heavenly ones and within the earth blood and fire and palm columns smoke
RBT Paraphrase:
And I have given miracles within the Dual Heavenly Ones, and within the Earth blood and fire and palm columns of smoke!

A date palm does not grow by adding new layers to the outside like most trees. Instead, she elongates from a single growing point (the apical meristem) at the top of the trunk.

This upward, segmented growth made palms ideal symbols for verticality and steady ascent. In Hebrew, תימרה (from תמר Tamar) borrows that columnar and stage-like form to describe tall, rising structures — like smoke that appears to grow “upwards in segments” as it billows.

Julia Smith Literal 1876 Translation:
And I gave wonders in the heavens, and in the earth, blood and fire and pillars of smoke.
LITV Translation:
And I will give signs in the heavens and in the earth: blood, and fire, and columns of smoke.
