And he is saying to Raised-Father, `He perceived, you are perceiving, that an sojourner he is becoming, your seed, in an earth not theirs,⁵⁷³ and they have served them, and they have pressed down⁵⁷⁴ את-them four hundred of a duplication,

And he is saying to Lifted Up Father, `He saw, you are seeing that the seed of yourself is becoming a stranger-sojourner within an earth not their own, and they have worked for themselves, and they have depressed themselves down four hundred fold,

And he will say to Abram, Knowing thou shalt know that thy seed shall be a sojourner in the land not to them; and they shall serve them and they shall humble them four hundred years.

LITV Translation:
And He said to Abram, You must surely know that your seed shall be an alien in a land not theirs; and they shall serve them. And they shall afflict then four hundred years;

Brenton Septuagint Translation:
And it was said to Abram, Thou shalt surely know that thy seed shall be a sojourner in a land not their own, and they shall enslave them, and afflict them, and humble them four hundred years.

Genesis 15:13

The sentences correlate the singular noun seed with the plural them and they because the seed of Father-of-Tumult is not just one builder, but many. This helps us understand what Paul was saying in Galatians 3:16, “The promises were spoken to Father-of-Tumult and to his seed. The Scripture does not say, “and to seeds,” meaning many, but ‘and to your seed,’ meaning One, who is Christ.” That is, Christ himself begins a new lineage of “saviors” who stem from the one seed by abiding in Him/His Word.
